1. What is the probability that the vaccine will result in side effects that affect my long-term health?

After getting the COVID-19 vaccine, you may feel some mild side effects, as you would feel after getting the flu shot. Some of the more common side effects include arm pain, mild fever, or headache. But these symptoms will go away after 24 hours – and if you do feel them, don’t worry. This is your body’s way of telling you that it is building immunity to protect you against COVID-19. There are no known long-term negative effects of the vaccine. We know the vaccine will protect you from getting seriously ill, needing hospitalization, or worse.

2. How do I know if my vaccines will protect me from new variants that are beginning to circulate and that may be more infectious and dangerous?

Scientists are working around the clock to prove that COVID-19 vaccines also protect against newer variants that may be more infectious or dangerous. So far, all three vaccines have been shown to be effective against the variants, and they will keep you and your loved ones safe and protected from the virus.

3. Will I need to receive a booster shot and, if I will have to, how many months after I have been fully vaccinated?

It is not yet known whether we will need booster shots or yearly shots. Scientists are studying this presently.

4. What should parents know about vaccines for children under 16 years of age?

If we want to protect all of our loved ones from this deadly virus, we must all get vaccinated. COVID-19 vaccines, like other vaccines your children receive, are safe and effective and help us eradicate disease in our community. Remember that only the Pfizer vaccine is available to those between the ages of 12 and 17
