CDC increases its list of people who are most at risk of becoming seriously ill with coronavirus

 

New studies that point out other risk factors to consider were taken into account.

In recent days, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, made public a modification they made to the list they had made regarding those pre-existing conditions that make a person more vulnerable to becoming seriously ill with coronavirus.

 

The issue of age is a factor that has been ruled out and pregnant women have been included instead; The risk threshold for those with obesity was also lowered and those with sickle cell anemia have been included in the list.

The changes did not include race as a risk factor for developing the disease in a serious way, although evidence has accumulated that blacks, Hispanics, and Amerindians have the highest rates of infection, hospitalization, and death.

“We recommend that those at higher risk limit contact with others as much as possible, or restrict it with small groups willing to take steps to reduce the risk of (you) becoming infected,” said CDC director Dr. Robert Redfield.
