GST Login — How to Do GST Login?

GST login on the GST Portal allows taxpayers to do many important tasks online. After logging in, users can file GST Login returns, claim refunds, reply to notices, and even cancel their GST registration if needed. By using your GST username and password, you can easily log in and access different GST services and communicate with GST officers.

This means you do not have to visit CBIC offices or submit your GST return physically. Everything can be done online from home or the office.

What do You Understand By the GST Portal?

The GST Portal is a government website used across India for GST services. The official website address is https://www.gst.gov.in/

This portal allows taxpayers to complete all GST-related activities online, both before and after logging in.

On the GST login portal, users can do many tasks such as GST registration, filing GST Login returns, paying taxes, applying for refunds, and more. All these features will be explained in detail in the next sections of this article.

How to Register on the GST Portal?

Step 1: Visit the GST Website

Go to the official GST Portal: www.gst.gov.in

Step 2: Start New Registration

Click on: Services → Registration → New Registration

Step 3: Fill in Your Basic Details

  • Your legal name (same as your PAN)
  • PAN number
  • Email ID and mobile number (for OTP)
  • State and district
  • After you verify the OTP sent to your phone and email, you will receive a Temporary Reference Number (TRN).

Step 4: Complete Part B – Detailed Business Information

  • Now use your TRN to continue the registration:
  • Go back to the GST Login Portal and select Temporary Reference Number (TRN)
  • Enter your TRN and the captcha code, then click PROCEED
  • Enter the OTP again and click PROCEED
  • You will see your application with the status “Drafts” — click the Edit icon
  • Now fill all the sections of the form:
  • Business Details
  • Promoter / Partners Details
  • Authorised Signatory Details
  • Principal Place of Business
  • Additional Places of Business (if any)
  • Goods and Services Details
  • State Specific Information
  • Aadhaar Authentication (optional)
  • Verification

Also, upload the required documents as requested on the portal.

Step 5: Submit Your Application

  • After checking that everything is correct and all documents are uploaded:
  • If you are a Company or LLP → submit using DSC (Digital Signature Certificate)
  • For all other types of applicants → submit using EVC (OTP authentication)
  • Once submitted successfully, you will receive an Application Reference Number (ARN).
  • You can use this ARN anytime to track the status of your GST registration.

Step 6: Get Your GSTIN and Login Details

After your application is approved:

  • You will receive your 15-digit GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number)
  • A temporary username and password will be sent to your registered email
  • Now you can log in to the GST Portal using these credentials and start managing your GST activities.
